About Us
Our Mission
Our mission is to redefine (to define again or to reexamine or reevaluate especially with a view to change) what it means to be a church girl through young women between 17-21 years old.
Church comes from the Greek word Ekklisia, which means “called by God.” Therefore, Church Girlz really means: the girls who are called by God. Our purpose is to encourage young women to answer the call of God on their lives.
Our Story
The journey of Church Girlz began back in 2012 when Jasmine was a senior in high school and seeking God about what to study in college. God lead her to major in Mass Communications and made her a promise saying, “Go to Delaware State University, major in Mass Communications and when you graduate you will never have to compete for a job. I will give you your own lane.”
Jasmine followed the Lord’s instructions. Throughout her years in college, Jasmine drifted far from God, lost her way and forgot about the promise. In 2014 while home for Christmas break, Jasmine found herself sitting in the same spot she was
sitting years prior when God made His promise to her. Little did she know, a divine moment with God was about to happen again. That day the Lord said to Jasmine,
“It’s time for you to stop playing and get ready for after graduation."
She replied, “What do you mean?”
“Don’t you remember the promise I made you before college?”
“No, remind me.”
He said, “I told you to go to DSU major in Mass Comm. and I promised you that when you
graduate I’d give you your own lane and you’d never have to compete for a job. Don’t you
remember?”
“I remember now! I have learned so much in college, what will I be doing? Writing? Speaking? Making videos? Have my own business? Throw events or something?”
He said, “All of it.”
“Great! What should I do to get started?”
That is where the journey truly began. That semester God took Jasmine on journey to grow and prepare for the future. She kept asking God what she was doing all of this for and what will this ministry be called. One day He finally answered her saying, “Church Girlz.” She hated the name and asked why should it be called that. The Lord responded saying, “I want you to redefine what it means to be a church girl. I want you to take that term back. The very reaction you gave is the same reaction others give and I want you to change that.”
That summer of 2015 Jasmine knew her mission and said yes to God’s call. From there, God began to develop Jasmine in all areas so that she could carry out the the plan of God the way He needed it to be carried. The summer of 2017 Jasmine put together her board and filed Church Girlz as an official 501-c3 non-profit organization. January 2018 Jasmine launched Church Girlz to the public. Since then Church Girlz has gained an online audience across the U.S. and 30 other countries.
